Elgin Sweeper Co. and Seagrave Fire Apparatus are recalling street sweepers and fire vehicles to address faulty seat belts, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced.

Elgin Sweeper Co. will recall 35 2013 model-year Pelican street sweepers equipped with IMMI-brand L9 seat belt buckles. These seat belt buckles can be difficult to unlatch, in violation of federal safety standards, NHTSA said. Elgin dealers will inspect the seat belt assemblies and replace any defective units.

Similarly, Seagrave Fire Apparatus LLC is recalling 13 2013-2014 model-year emergency vehicles equipped with IMMI-brand L9 seat belt buckles, NHTSA said. Again, dealers will replace any faulty seat belt assemblies that are too difficult to unlatch.

Both seat belt-related recalls are set to get under way in July.
