A federal audit has questioned the City of Tampa's decision to purchase an armored police vehicle as well as the mayor's use of a sport-utility vehicle purchased with federal funds.

Federal auditors questioned Mayor Bob Buckhorn's use of a 2012 Chevrolet Suburban that was purchased for the 2008 Republican National Convention, reports the Tampa Tribune.

Auditors also questioned whether the city needed a new $273,000 armored vehicle for use during the convention when it already had two similar vehicles. The vehicles were purchased using federal grant funds for homeland security.
