The Buffalo (N.Y.) Police Department has taken delivery of the first batch of 49 black-and-white Chevrolet Tahoe PPV SUVs to replace blue-and-white Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptors.

The department will eventually replace its entire fleet of 180 marked vehicles with Tahoes. The remainder of the first 49 will arrive by May, reports the Buffalo News.

Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda said the switch to the more traditional color scheme helps officers "to be more visible."
