The Mobile, Ala., City Council has approved $3.2 million for 93 police vehicles to replace high-mileage vehicles in the city's aging police fleet, reports Al.com.

The expenditure will bring 68 Chevrolet Caprice PPVs and 24 Chevrolet Impalas to the Mobile Police Department for administrators and detectives. The police fleet now has 104 cars with more than 200,000 miles on the odometer and annual maintence costs about $5,000 per vehicle.
