Volkswagen could introduce a mid-size pickup into the U.S. market if the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon fare well, North American CEO Michael Horn told AutoBlog.

The automaker currently produces the mid-size Amarok for the European market, and told AutoBlog that vehicle "is too small for the U.S." The automaker is considering resizing its Amarok.

The Amarok is offered in a single or double cab with a choice of two clean-diesel TDI engines. The vehicle is produced in Hannover, Germany, and Pacheco, Argentina.

In Europe in 2013, Volkswagen sold 314,400 light commercial vehicles including the Amarok, T5, Caddy, and Crafter.
