Mercedes-Benz U.S.A. is considering bringing the Vito commercial van to the U.S. market to offer with its larger Sprinter, a spokesman has confirmed to Automotive Fleet.

The Vito is offered elsewhere around the globe in three lengths, two wheelbases, and three seating configurations. The automaker offers four- or six-cylinder diesel engines mated to rear- or all-wheel drive-trains.

Mercedes-Benz offers the Vito in cargo, crew, and passenger configurations. A passenger version called the Viano adds an upgraded interior, a version that may appeal to airport operators.

In 2009, Mercedes-Benz began offering the Sprinter, which had been a Dodge-branded panel van. The automaker formed its Daimler Vans USA unit at the time.
