Asda has added 250 new chilled home delivery vans to its UK fleet as it looks to boost online sales and lessen its reliance on large stores, according to a report in The Grocer. Eventually, the retailer will be operating a fleet of 1,600 vehicles nationwide.

Forty of the new vehicles are already operating from Asda’s new home shopping center in Nottingham, which officially opened in February.

The 3.5-tonne Iveco Daily vans will provide four years of service, seven days per week, according to the report Iveco has supplied all of Asda’s new home delivery vans since 2011, following a trial of 50 of the Daily vans in 2010.
