Utah’s Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality (DAQ) has awarded grant and loan funds for the purchase of compressed natural gas (CNG) fueled vehicles to Salt Lake City, the Utah Transit Authority, and the Wasatch Front Waste and Recycling District.

DAQ is awarding a total of $250,000 from the Clean Fuels Grant and Loan program. Of that amount $91,857 will go to Salt Lake City to purchase a CNG-fueled street sweeper, snow plow, aerial tower, and refuse truck. A total of $79,072 goes to the Utah Transit Authority, which will help fund the purchase of CNG-fueled buses. Lastly, the Wasatch Front Waste and Recycling District will receive $79,071 for the purchase of CNG-fueled trucks.
