Lyon County, Iowa, has received half of the motor graders it ordered in June 2021. Mike Brown of Ziegler Cat, which the county ordered the motor graders from, gave an update at a recent board of supervisors meeting.

The county ordered 10 Caterpillar motor graders for maintenance on its rural gravel roads. The county received five of them in June, and is expected to get the rest in the coming weeks, Brown said at the meeting. Because the equipment is built in Brazil and ports have dealt with traffic jams, Cat also saw delays in equipment deliveries, according to The N'West Iowa REVIEW. Brown agreed to let the county use a rental motor grader if needed while the rest of them are being delivered.

Lyon County's agrement with Ziegler Cat includes a buyback of the old motor graders that are being replaced, the REVIEW reported. It also covers repair costs on the equipment.
