David Renschler, CPFP, fleet division manager for the City of Fairfield, California, was named the 2022 Public Sector Fleet Manager of the Year during the Honors Celebration at the 2022 Government Fleet Expo & Conference in Detroit. The award was presented by Bill Collins of Element Fleet Management, the award sponsor.
"It's a long road to get here. We have a thankless job...If I could leave something for everyone here: make sure that you always have data to back up your decisions you make and you could never go wrong because you can always defend those to anyone who tries to tear them down," Renschler advised GFX attendees during his acceptance speech.
A panel of judges consisting of fleet managers from around the country reviewed each candidate in 10 categories: business plan, technology implementation, productivity, policies, preventive maintenance program, utilization management, replacement program, customer service, fuel management, and safety. Renschler was up against two other finalists for this award.
