Premier Manufacturing’s Saf-T-Latch pintle hitch will close automatically if a driver forgets to do the job manually.

The mechanism is activated when the emergency brake is released, drawing on the air from a small auxiliary air cylinder.

“Fleets have approached us and asked that we help find a solution to trailer separation events,” said Premier Manufacturing President Paul Grycko. “We have no doubt this product will reduce the number of disconnects occurring, which improves industry safety.”

Rated for a maximum gross trailer weight of 100,000 lb., it has an ultimate latch capacity of 60,000 lb. and a maximum tongue weight of 20,000 lb. The maximum eye X-section measures 1-13/16 inches, while the minimum eye opening is 2-3/8 inches. It all weighs in at 48.8 lb.
