The high-value metal found in catalytic converters can be sold at scrap metal yards for a handsome price, which makes them appealing to thieves. 

Ottawa, Canada, police said 20 Canada Post vehicles were targeted for their catalytic converters on June 23, according to a CBC article.

Ottawa police warned of a string of similar thefts in March 2019, and there have been dozens of recent incidents in other parts of Ontario.
