Bobcat Company's S740 skid-steer loader is powered by an engine that is less than 75 hp and doesn’t require a diesel particulate filter (DPF), selective catalytic reduction (SCR), or diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). It is the company's first Tier 4-compliant 700 frame-size loader.

The 74-hp machine is ideal for working in construction, landscaping, agriculture, and buildings and grounds.

Bobcat S740 skid-steer loaders use a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) to meet Tier 4 emission standards, but without the need for a DPF. The DOC is a special catalyst that reacts with engine exhaust upon contact and transforms combustion byproducts into substances like water and carbon dioxide.

The Tier 4-compliant Bobcat non-DPF solution was achieved by designing an ultra-low particulate combustion (ULPC) engine. The ULPC is accomplished through a specially designed engine combustion chamber that significantly reduces the amounts of particulate matter created during combustion.

As a vertical-lift-path machine, the S740 loader can lift loads higher, making it easier to clear high-sided truck boxes and hoppers. The hydraulic systems on M-Series loaders also have higher standard flow and pressure, providing for increased attachment performance.

The S740’s cab-forward design moves the operator closer to the attachment and provides visibility in all directions. The new loader has the largest cab door opening on the market for visibility to attachments and to the cutting edge and corners of a bucket.

Windows on the sides and rear of the cab are larger in size to provide more visibility to the tires and back of the machine. The larger top window makes it easier and more comfortable for the operator when performing tasks like loading trucks or tall hoppers.

Simple check points and superior design elements make it easier to perform maintenance at the proper intervals. The auxiliary quick couplers are mounted directly to the front plate of the lift arm to provide a solid mounting, and hoses are routed through the loader arms for better protection. A guard bar extends in the front of the coupler for added protection.

Keeping the loader cool when working long hours also helps prolong service life of the machine. The redesigned cooling system on the M-Series S740 allows for increased efficiency, is easy-to-clean, and increases machine performance, according to the company.
