KOBELCO Construction Machinery USA introduced its largest crawler excavator, the SK350LC. The 81,800-lb. SK350 model was engineered to support heavy-duty applications and its 270 hp, Tier 4 HINO engine is fuel efficient to deliver operational cost savings, the company stated.

Combined with three engine modes, heavy, standard and economic, operators can switch between maximum power and low fuel consumption based on the job. Each mode is selected through a button in the operator’s cab. the unit also features an improved hydraulic system to reduce energy loss.

The crawler excavator has a digging force of 50,582 lbs, a dig depth of 24 feet 10 inches, a 1.57 – 2.09 cubic yard bucket, and a swing speed of 10 rpm.

The SK350 also comes standard with KOBELCO’s independent travel feature that allows the excavator to travel, dig, and lift simultaneously without experiencing a loss of power, according to KOBELCO.

The machine is ergonomically designed with wide access doors and windows on all sides for a wide field of vision. The cap includes a 7-way adjustable suspension seat, AM/FM radio, large cup holder, and a storage tray. The cab design is rounded out by centralized controls, instrumentation, and onboard self-diagnostics, including warning screens and audible alarms that alert the operator to the status of critical equipment functions.

The SK350 is made from forged and cast steel materials with reinforced high stress areas on the arm and boom, wide welds, and a standard rock guard for added protection. It also features an undercarriage with heavy-duty track guides and rollers, and a thick base plate and grousers. Self-lubricating bushings at the attachment pins and abrasion-resistant bushings near the bucket are included to further enhance durability.

The SK350 is equipped with KOBELCO’s KOMEX machine operation management system which allows owners access to data including location, operating hours, fuel consumption, and maintenance status.  Operators and fleet managers along with KOBELCO dealers and service personnel can view all vital equipment information to plan jobs and schedule regular service intervals. When preventive maintenance is required, the SK350 can be worked on at ground level for ease-of-access to key service points.
