The Bureau of Police in Petersburg, Va., purchased three drones, growing its drone fleet to a total of four, reported the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
The GoPro drones will be used to aid in searching for missing people and photographing vehicle accident and crime scenes, Petersburg Police Chief Kenneth Miller said. Drone use by law enforcement is strictly regulated in the Commonwealth of Virginia, requiring a warrant before use in criminal investigations.
