The City of Columbia, Mo., Police Department is struggling with a fleet replacement freeze imposed last year that could be extended into the next fiscal year, the Columbia Tribune reported. The city saved $1.1 million last year by not purchasing new vehicles.
The city’s police chief has requested using money the city budgeted — but did not spend — for other police needs to purchase seven patrol cars.
