The City of Alexander City, Ala., has taken delivery of eight new Chevrolet Tahoe police cars after years of putting off replacements, The Outlook reported. The city purchased one vehicle in 2015, and purchases before that were in 2012 or 2013 — this means many vehicles now have more than 200,000 miles on them, the police chief told the newspaper.

Funding came from a $1.3 million allocation for fleet replacements across all departments. The vehicles were purchased off the state contract and are awaiting upfitting.
