The City of Pocatello is under investigation by the state's Department of Environmental Quality after allegations that the city dumped potentially hazardous fluids on the ground at a city maintenance yard. A former city employee shared video of a city truck dumping what he alleges to be used motor oil, reports the Idaho State Journal.

The city contended that it is a best practice to dump water removed from the storm drain systems in the maintenance yard. However, the former employee alleges that the liquid being dumped is more hazardous than the city claims, containing motor oil, grease, antifreeze, and herbicide.
