The City of Burleston, Texas will implement an asset management system to improve driver safety, reduce idle time, and streamline maintenance operations. It has chosen a system from ThingTech to keep track of all city fleets and over 270 assets through its Public Works Department.

Major goals of the deployment include an improved operator safety through real-time tracking and analyses of driver behavior; reduced idle time; reduced labor hours and asset downtime through predictive analytics; and streamlined maintenance operations, documentation, scheduling, and collaboration with other departments. The city also hopes to collect real-time data to support asset management initiatives for capital budgeting processes

This system will replace a number of applications and manual processes using Excel and Access databases, according to ThingTech. The city chose the product for its ability to integrate asset management, real-time fleet and asset utilization, multiple fueling system APIs, and a cloud-based option.
