The City of Dayton, Ohio, will spend $1.2 million for its aging fire and medical services fleet in 2017. It will purchase at least two fire engines and a new medical transport unit. One of the fire engines being replaces was purchased more than 20 years ago. The new vehicles are needed for the Dayton Fire Department to stay in line with National Fire Protection Agency standards, reports WDTN.

Over the years, the city has fallen behind on vehicle replacements and now plans to catch up on modernizing its fleet. The new purchases are expected to arrive in late 2017 as they will take 8-9 months to build.
