The Nebraska Department of Roads is outfitting all of its 697 plow trucks with tracking technology that also monitors the amount of brine and salt they spread, the Lincoln Journal Star reported. It has been installed on 200 trucks so far and will be deployed statewide by next winter.

The department is also adding more tow plows — plows covering two lanes at a time — to its fleet, bringing the tow plow total to 26.
