The City of Crown Point, Ind., will roll out telematics to its fleet, including police cars and snow plows, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The city made the decision after a 60-day pilot that showed it could save 10-15% of the approximately $100,000 it spends annually in fuel costs.

The city chose Verizon Networkfleet as its vendor, and it expects not only fuel costs savings, but also improved vehicle maintenance.
