The Montana Department of Transportation has added new steerable trailer-mounted plows in eight areas to allow snowplow truck operators to move snow more efficiently and safely, according to the agency.

The Montana agency added eight Tow Plows that can be mounted to a tandem-axle snowplow truck in the areas of Lookout Pass, Kalispell, Helena, Townsend, Bozeman, Great Falls, Billings, and Glendive. The 26-foot-wide plow allows drivers to clear two lanes of roadway in one pass.

Tow Plows are equipped with a granular spreader and a tank for dispensing liquids for snow and ice control.
