The City of Shelton, Conn., has reached agreements with several local repair garages on a set labor rate of $60 for outsourced work.

The rate includes an hourly rate for general work and specific rates for more routine maintenance jobs, such as oil changes and brake work, reports the Shelton Herald.

The garages will do work on police vehicles, municipal staff vehicles, administrative vehicles, and light-duty fire support vehicles.

The set pricing schedule will all the city to off-load lower priority work to relieve beleagured technicians, who will be able to focus on public works vehicles and trucks.
