A tire vendor is suing the City of Memphis, Tenn., for $3 million for allegedly breaking a tire-changing contract with his minority-owned company to give business to two white-owned companies, various news sources have reported.

The city hired Big Foot Tires and Trucking in 2010 for a one-year contract with a three-year extension option. The company owner claims the city verbally agreed to the extension if he relocated to a larger facility.

Although he did so, the lawsuit claims the city did not renew his contract but contracted with Caucasian-owned businesses. He said he received no complaints about his service, and the city never gave him a reason for ending the agreement.
