The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that Terex is recalling a total of 118 model-year 2012-2013 Aerial Devices and Digger Derricks manufactured September 2012 through February 2013. According to NHTSA, the lock valve cavity in the outrigger cylinder may be machined incorrectly and the seals could be damaged. The damaged seals may allow the outrigger to drift. If the outrigger cylinder drifts, the vehicle’s stability could be affected and the unit could overturn, NHTSA stated.

Terex will notify owners and its dealers will inspect the affected outriggers to determine if they were machined correctly. Inspection and repairs will be performed free of charge. NHTSA said the manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners can contact Terex at 1-605-884-3892. Terex's recall campaign number is SN607, NHTSA stated.
