Head Announces Plans to Retire From County of Sonoma, Capping 25-Year Career

SANTA ROSA, CA - David Head, fleet manager for the County of Sonoma in California, announced that he will retire effective April 15, 2013. He has worked for the County of Sonoma for 25 years – the past 22 years as fleet manager.
Head has been fascinated with automobiles since he was a teenager. “I started working on cars in my dad’s service station in 1970 at age 16,” he said.

In 1972, Head joined the U.S. Army to be trained as a heavy equipment mechanic. “I was in and out of the Army and Army Reserves three times, and, ultimately retired as a captain with 23 years of active and reserve service in 2000.”
He and his wife, Michelle, will retire to Auburn, Calif., in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. “I plan to stay involved with the fleet industry when not traveling or working on 1950s and 1960s vintage pickups,” said Head.
