SACRAMENTO, CA – The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) has implemented Agile Access Control’s FleetCommander fleet and motor pool system to automate its fleet of pool vehicles. The system went live during the first week of June. Over the coming months, SMUD will evaluate how employees are adapting to the new FleetCommander system.

SMUD currently has four key control systems located across its campus. None of the systems are staffed. SMUD’s criteria for a motor pool management system included that it must provide optimum vehicle utilization, scheduling, vehicle reassignments, and peak demand statistical information for pool vehicles. The solution also had to offer secure and automated key pick-up and drop-off capabilities. Drivers using the system from Agile can check out a vehicle at the kiosk rather than having to reserve it online.

The FleetCommander system provides SMUD employees with the ability to what pool vehicles are available online and to reserve vehicles. Fleet managers can monitor the status of their pool fleet using the system’s online dashboard. The dashboard can show which vehicles are reserved, those retuned late, and show utilization. The dashboard’s data updates every five minutes, according to Agile.
