SANTA MONICA, CA and BAYOU LA BATRE, LA – The City of Santa Monica has formally transferred the titles to 24 fleet assets, including vehicles and equipment, to the City of Bayou La Batre, La. In October 2005, Santa Monica donated the vehicles to aid in recovery efforts post Hurricane Katrina.

According to City documents, officials from the City of Bayou La Batre have indicated the vehicles and equipment, although old, are still useful. In addition, the cost to ship the assets back to Santa Monica is more than the vehicles are currently worth, the City of Santa Monica’s documents state. Transferring the assets saves Santa Monica money and continues to provide Bayou La Batre with usable fleet assets.
