ST. PAUL, MN – Rep. Tim Sanders, R-Blaine has proposed a bill to reduce the size of the Minnesota state fleet by 15 percent below the number owned on July 1, 2011, by June 30, 2015. The proposed legislation would require the State Commissioner to consolidate the fleet of state agency passenger vehicles and trucks and manage acquisition, replacement, fuel, and maintenance of these vehicles.

The bill states that vehicles considered for the purpose of the bill are passenger motor vehicles, pickup trucks, and panel trucks with up to a one-ton carrying capacity. The bill would not affect vehicles used for public safety.
