SCOTTSDALE, AZ - After two months of review, City of Scottsdale staff report that outsourcing opportunities for some services in the City may not yield cost savings. Services considered for privatization include fleet parts management, according to The Arizona Republic.

A staff review found that further outsourcing of parts management for the city's 1,000-vehicle fleet may not be necessary, and that a mix of city staff and contractors works best. At its Aug. 31 meeting, the council directed staff to seek competitive bids for fleet parts. An audit of the city's fleet management is under way.

Solid waste collection and parks maintenance were also reviewed, and it was also found that outsourcing would not yield more savings.

The reviews are part of a City initiative to look into privatizing services as a cost-saving measure, according to the newspaper.
