HAMPTON, VA - The City of Hampton has extended its use of AssetWorks fleet solutions by implementing the FuelFocus fuel management solution, integrating it with the company's FleetFocus maintenance management software already in use, according to a release from the AssetWorks.

Hampton Fleet Services has used the FleetFocus fleet management solution for 12 years to track all maintenance activities for its fleet of 1,500 vehicles. FuelFocus Island Control Units (ICUs) will be installed on two fuel islands to dispense diesel, unleaded gasoline and oil, with future expansion to include Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF).

According to Rick Russ, Director of Fleet Services, the City selected FuelFocus because of its use of RFID technology. He expects automatic meter updates will help save time and allow the city to be proactive with preventive maintenance scheduling.

Together FleetFocus and FuelFocus provide an integrated system on a single database to track all maintenance activities. At the time of fuel dispensing, FuelFocus authorizes the vehicles and wirelessly captures a meter reading, which is passed in real time.

In a phased implementation, Hampton will also utilize FuelFocus RFID technology that allows vehicles to be authorized and provide meter readings automatically without the use of a keypad. Reducing manual entry and duplicate data recording can save Hampton time and money, according to the release.

As part of the upgrade and installation of FuelFocus, Hampton will also be installing the Lincoln Lube LFC 5000 Fluid Inventory Control & Management System with full integration into FleetFocus. This integration will allow FleetFocus to track the dispensing of all fluids during routine maintenance of its vehicles.
