BIRMINGHAM, AL - Jefferson County authorities said nine county vehicles were broken into and three others were stolen over the long holiday weekend, according to The Birmingham News.

The News reported one truck was recovered Nov. 30. A set of keys was found in the recovered truck, which belong one of the other stolen vehicles.

Tarrant police on night patrol Nov. 29 spotted a gate that had been taken off its hinges at the county's General Services' fleet facility in the Ketona area, according to the News. The windows had been broken out so thieves could get inside the vehicles, authorities told the News.

Investigators are taking inventory to determine what was taken from the vehicles.
