PENSACOLA, FL - Escambia County Sheriff's Office is adding more than 50 Tahoes to its fleet of vehicles in anticipation of Ford phasing out the Crown Victoria, according to the Pensacola News Journal. The last Crown Victorias are scheduled to roll off the assembly line in 2011.

Several Escambia Sheriff's deputies assigned to the K-9 unit began patrolling the streets in the new SUVs last week, with a total of five expected by this week. A shipment of more than 40 Tahoes should also be arriving soon, reported the Journal.

The $1.9 million cost of the Tahoe sport utility vehicles are being paid for with local option sales tax money, according to the Journal.
