ELKHORN, NE -Steve Anderson, transportation manager for Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) in Elkhorn, Neb., retired June 1 after 31 years of service. His entire career at the Omaha Public Power District was in fleet management. Anderson managed a diverse fleet of 1,400 units. In addition to managing the vehicle fleet, Anderson was responsible for other assets such as construction equipment, trailers, diggers, lawn mowers, and a locomotive. His responsibilities also included management of four full-service garages and one garage that specialized in light-duty equipment. At the time of his retirement, Anderson managed a staff of 58.

Anderson started his career at the OPPD as a specification engineer in 1978. He was promoted to administrative supervisor in 1985 and then to fleet manager in 1989.

Prior to joining the Omaha Public Power District, Anderson was a pilot for the U.S. Air Force. He is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Succeeding Anderson is Mike Donahue, manager for transportation and construction equipment. Donahue is a 14-year employee of OPPD, starting his career in the fleet department as a specification engineer in 1995. He was promoted to administrative supervisor in 2001. He is a graduate of Iowa State University with a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering.
