CARROLL, IA - The Carroll County Board of Supervisors is considering writing a policy regarding county vehicle purchases, according to the Daily Times Herald.

After inaccurate vehicle comparisons caused some confusion over recently reviewed dealer quotes for both new and used vehicles, board members suggested a standard policy be set for county department vehicle purchases.

One recommendation for the policy would require the head of a department in need of a vehicle to write up bid specifications in conjunction with the supervisors. Similar vehicles would need to be compared and every qualified dealer in the county would be ensured an opportunity to bid.

The Sheriff's Office worksheet used when writing specifications for vehicles may serve as a guideline, reported the Herald.
