PHILADELPHIAA city fleet management employee was involved in a car accident while driving a police cruiser and then left the scene, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Police officials said the cop car was being serviced May 1 at fleet management's headquarters when the employee, who was not identified, took the cruiser out for a road test about 1:20 p.m. and got into a collision with another vehicle less than a block away, police said, as reported by the Philadelphia Daily News.

Rather than stay at the accident scene, the city employee reportedly fled back to fleet headquarters.

The other motorist called 911 and reported the hit-and-run. Members of the police Accident Investigation Division were called to the scene and quickly sized up the situation, police said. The motorist, who also was not identified, was treated for minor injuries.

The city employee was not arrested, but may face charges when the investigation is over, police said, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.
