ARLINGTON, TEXAS — For about 30 years, Arlington police have been driving cars that could be described as a little "vanilla." But that will begin to change this week as the department rolls out the first of its dramatically redesigned fleet, according to www.star-telegram.com.

A dozen navy-blue Chevrolet Tahoes and Dodge Chargers with white doors and bolder graphics, taking the place of several older, all-white squad cars, said Lt. Blake Miller, a police spokesman.

The new look is part of departmentwide rebranding that will also include new patches for uniforms, Miller said. But the cars generated the most feedback in an employee survey, said Lt. Chad Gann, who helped create the design concept.

It will take several years to replace the entire fleet with the redesign.
