MORRIS COUNTY, NJ – Under a new policy enacted by Morris County government, County workers will have to get used to less leg room and smaller engines if they drive county vehicles on the job. Looking to save money and eliminate personal use of county government vehicles, the freeholders approved new standards for county cars and SUVs. The majority of the new county fleet will be compact or sub-compact cars or smaller sized SUVs with four cylinder engines, according to The Star-Ledger.

 

Six cylinder sedans will be limited only to marked police cars for the county sheriff and park police agencies. Larger-sized vehicles and/or engines, if needed, must be approved by the county administrator.

County officials have been reviewing vehicle use since the spring, examining who uses county vehicles and trying to match the uses with the size and horsepower of cars and four-wheel vehicles.
