KNOXVILLE, TEXAS – 6 News recently followed up on comments posted in a 6 Listens Question pertaining to the 150 vehicle take-home fleet used by Knox County government, according to www.wate.com.

As a result, 6 News learned from the mayor’s office that the county does pay for the gas. Workers with drive-home vehicles can fill up at the fleet center or at Pilot gas stations, using their Pilot gas cards. They’re allowed to get gas on an as-needed basis.

According to Knox County’s policy, the vehicles may be used for commuting purposes only when the commuting residence is inside county limits. They’re not to be used for personal use. Also, vehicles aren’t allowed to be used for car pooling, and employees shouldn’t drive people around for non-business related purposes.

The mayor’s office says it’s in process of revising the policy.
