ROSEBURG, OR – Douglas County commissioners are considering a request from the City of Roseburg asking the county to temporarily maintain the city’s vehicle fleet. The city has found it difficult to find a company to work on its 100 cars, pickups, fire trucks, backhoes, and other equipment since Lee’s Fleet Service went out of business earlier this year, according to www.nrtoday.com.

The city does not have its own maintenance shop. A six-month trial period with the county has been proposed, beginning Jul. 1. Either side could end the contract with a 30-day notice. The city would pay the county $65 per hour. At the same time, the city would seek a private company to take over the work on a long-term basis.
