RESTON, VA - MAXIMUS, a provider of fleet enterprise asset management software and automated fueling management solutions, recently announced that it has signed a statewide fuel system contract with the State of Maine, Department of Transportation (DOT).

Maine DOT has selected MAXIMUS FuelFocus, a fully integrated automated fuel system (AFS), in a procurement valued at more than $500,000.

Maine DOT successfully deployed MAXIMUS market leading fleet maintenance management software application for their fleet of 1500 vehicles in 2006. They also selected the MAXIMUS FuelFocus product through a competitive bidding process after having successfully completed an eighteen-month pilot at five major fuel sites.

The pilot was conducted as a proof-of-concept to provide Maine DOT the full experience of FuelFocus in day-to-day operations. The MAXIMUS software performed well in the harsh Maine winter weather and allowed Maine DOT to realize the value of a fully integrated fleet and fuel management solution.

Going forward, Maine DOT will also be evaluating the MAXIMUS Wireless Automated Fueling solution for motor pool vehicles at their Augusta Headquarters location.

“Maine DOT has made the highest possible commitment to use MAXIMUS resources to their fullest potential. The MAXIMUS FuelFocus product is allowing us to provide fuel services to all other State agencies,” stated Don Hewlett, project manager for Maine DOT.

Maine DOT will use FuelFocus to:

  • Automate its fuel operations at 92 locations.
  • Enable to automate the collection of fuel consumption and purchase data for the fleet as well, as for other agencies throughout the State.
  • Ensures that only authorized vehicles will be fueled.
  • Allow to immediately validate vehicle information that updates in the system in real-time.

All of this data is captured within one integrated fleet management database and application.
