Hybrids for Federal Fleet EPACT Compliance

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008 (HR 1585) includes an amendment to the Energy Policy Act (EPAct) to allow the federal fleet to acquire hybrids to meet the vehicle acquisition requirements of EPAct, according to NAFA.

The provision amends the definition of “alternative fueled vehicle” to include hybrid, as well as lean burn and fuel cell vehicles. he provision, however, is limited to federal fleets. HR 1585 is now pending the President’s approval.
