COLUMBIA, SC – Lexington County Council has approved spending $757,000 to buy, replace, and equip 31 vehicles in four agencies, according to the Web site www.thestate.com.

All but one of the vehicles are replacements, and 19 of those are marked Sheriff’s Department cruisers that have odometer readings that exceed 100,000 miles. Public Works, the county motor pool, and animal services division will get a total of eight replacement vehicles at a cost of $134,000. The cruisers will cost $462,000.

Laptop computers are to be installed in 15 cruisers at a cost of $60,000. The SWAT unit will get two replacement SUVs at a cost of $55,000.
