BIRMINGHAM, AL – Mike Anderson, shop superintendent for fleet operations for Jefferson County Commission in Birmingham, Ala., passed away July 8 from a heart attack. He was 51. Anderson was an assistant to Charles Tyler, director of fleet management for Jefferson County Commission. Anderson worked for Jefferson County Commission fleet operations for the past 17 years. He was hired as a mechanics helper in 1989 and shortly thereafter was promoted to a mechanic. Anderson was named shop superintendent in 1997. Prior to joining Jefferson County Commission, Anderson was a mechanic for the Jefferson County Transit Authority.

Anderson is survived by his wife Vivian and two children, Leslie and Michael.
