CHATTANOOGA, TN – In the next few months all of Chattanooga city’s 300-plus diesel vehicles will run on a B-20 blend, according to the Web site www.wdef.com. Biodiesel is a renewable fuel made from vegetable oil or animal fat. Most of the biodiesel in the U.S. comes from soybean oil.
Fleet Manager Brian Kiesche twisted a few arms to get the program going, but the idea finally caught on, the report said. Aside from saving money, the city of Chattanooga wants to improve air quality.
The city started using B-5 two years ago. Now, testing on a 30-percent blend is under way.
