BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND – The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), which provides statutory ambulance services to approximately 1.7 million people in the area and has a fleet in excess of 300 vehicles based at 32 sites, has selected Chevin Fleet Solutions’ Web-based FleetWave software system to help manage its fleet. The system will handle 300 ‘live’ vehicles and associated equipment and 10 concurrent users based at a minimum of seven sites, with the possibility of more vehicles being added in the future.

FleetWave will help NIAS track several fleet statistics, including :
  • Vehicle history records, including miles traveled and fuel/oil used.
  • Defects and outstanding work records, accident records, and servicing & inspection records.
  • Renewal date reminders for MOT, servicing, road fund licenses, and lease/exception reporting.
  • Whole life costing reports and stock control.
  • Repair occurrence analysis.
A key added benefit was that FleetWave also allowed NIAS to facilitate the scheduled maintenance of all specialist equipment, regardless of it being attached to a vehicle or not. For example, with the FleetWave system, NIAS could allocate emergency equipment, such as a defibrillator or a stretcher, to a vehicle and then track that same piece of equipment should it change vehicles.
