GRAHAM, NC – The City of Graham, N.C., fire department has donated a used fire truck to the Lakeside Fire Department in Louisiana, according to the Web site www.rdu.news14.com. The 1977 truck was a reserve pumper for the fire department, according to Graham Fire Chief John Andrews. It’s replacing a 1969 truck in the Lakeside fleet.
Once the city council deemed the used truck as ‘surplus,’ the mayor and former mayor teamed up to buy and donate the truck. They each paid 50 cents to the City of Graham for the truck. Lakeside fire chief and another member of the Lakeside Volunteer Fire Department will make the 900-plus mile trip to Louisiana in their donated truck this week.
