FREDERICK, CO – UQM Technologies, Inc., a developer of alternative-energy technologies, recently displayed an all-electric Silverado pickup truck at the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) Conference and Exposition in Washington, D.C. Jon Lutz, UQM Technologies’ director of engineering, also participated in a panel discussion titled, “Beyond Cars: Building Sustainability into Heavy- & Medium-Duty Markets, Mass Transit, and Off-Road Vehicles.”

The development of the all-electric Silverado pickup truck was funded by the U.S Air Force in cooperation with Robins Air Force Base and the Advanced Power Technology Office of the 542nd Combat Sustainment Wing, and is powered by a UQM 120-kilowatt propulsion system and a lithium ion battery pack from Valence Technology, Inc. The UQM propulsion motor delivers 650 newton meters of torque and has a peak energy efficiency of 96 percent.

The EDTA is an industry association dedicated to advancing electric drive as a core technology on the road to sustainable mobility. EDTA’s primary function is to increase the profile for electric drive among policy makers and opinion leaders and foster greater collaboration between industry and government. The annual conference brings together experts in electric and hybrid electric vehicles from around the world.
