BLOOMINGTON, IN – Indiana University (IU) administrators have postponed, until at least next month, a decision on whether to hire a private company to take care of about 600 school vehicles used on the Bloomington campus, according to the Web site www.indystar.com.
The move this week came just days after several local officials, including Mayor Mark Kruzan, sent a letter to IU’s trustees urging that they block the possible outsourcing of some school operations. The letter cited concerns that outsourcing would lead to a decrease in wages and benefits for workers.
Terry Clapacs, the IU vice president for administration, said he plans to review details of the plan with business school faculty members who are advising the group before a recommendation is made.
